Description
This course is designed to help attendees understand best practices available to prevent injury and illness as well as protect themselves from the diverse hazards encountered in laboratories, including exposure to chemical, biological, radiological hazards.
Learning Objectives
On completion of this course, you will be able to:
Describe the "Hierarchy of Controls" and give examples of each strategy within the hierarchy.
Describe control strategies and methods in "Hierarchy of Controls."
Identify common chemical and biological hazards to which laboratories might be exposed.
Describe biological agents and toxins encountered in laboratories.
Describe bloodborne pathogens exposure and response guidelines for laboratories.
Describe safety hazards and safe procedures when working in laboratory.
Describe physical hazards, such as ergonomic, radiation, and illumination hazards that are common in laboratories.
Describe precautions to take when working with laboratory equipment.
